Dental Screenings
Both health professionals and educators speak of the impact that dental well being has upon the ability for young people to learn, function and thrive. Both the condition of one’s teeth at an early age, along with the development of personal habits to maintain oral health, are critical to healthy teeth in the latter years. GUM brings congregations and schools together toward this end.
Sanchez Elementary School
Sanchez Elementary School, led by a principal committed to community partnership, converts their dance studio into a dental examination room where members of Grace Fellowship Community Church partner with the San Francisco Dental Society and the school district to offer screenings.See the Photos
Willie Brown Academy
Willie Brown Academy, a 4th - 8th grade school in San Francisco’s Bayview district, is joined by members of Redeemer Commmunity Church, who provide not only dental examinations, but oral hygiene instruction to each classroom that comes. Afterwards, the kids play bingo as a way to test their new knowledge.See the Photos
Holy Family Day Home
Holy Family Day Home sends their pre-school age children, class by class, across the street to receive dental screenings at Grace Fellowship Community Church where their members join with members of Redeemer Community Church to provide instruction, screening, and free dental kits.See the Photos
