Christmas Greetings from the Director
by Craig Wong - GUM Newsletter, Winter 2009
During the season of Advent, we are given space and time to reflect upon the God of the universe who chose to enter our darkness not with might and vengeance but, rather, in weakness and vulnerability…an infant born in an obscure manger in the outskirts of power. Paul, in 2 Corinthians, embodies this when he appeals to the wayward congregation with “the meekness and gentleness of Christ,” a posture foreign to those of us inclined to think that ministry is about our effort…rather than the gracious activity of God. Our pastors have been teaching us to embrace weakness as grace, i.e. where God’s power is manifest, and it is challenging the way we approach ministry. One way this looks is a deeper dependence, upon God and one another…folks like you who support our ministry through prayer, encouragement, financial giving, and so many other ways. Thank you for being a channel of God’s grace and mercy to us.
Just the beginning
Welcome to the GRIDD. Whether you want to learn more about the city, see how God is at work in and through His Church, or to simply catch up with what we’re up to and what we’re thinking about these days, we want the GRIDD to be of service.
